I know they are a contentious issue, it is definately a love hate thing.
I served these Brussels wrapped in bacon at a recent canape party, and actually created a sprout convert!
Apparently she has hated them all her life, but with just 4 ingredients, she is now a believer.
Brussels Sprouts Canapés
You will need :-
500g Brussels sprouts
1-2 packs smoked streaky bacon cut in thirds after being stretched with a knife.
1 tbsp honey
6 sprigs fresh thyme, leaves only
Parchment lined baking tin.
Cocktail sticks
Preheat the oven to 200°C/180 fan, gas mark 6.
Prepare your sprouts, by removing the outer few leaves, so you have the lovely clean ones left.
Boil water in a pan, add your Brussels, and simmer for 5 minutes, draining, and covering them immediately with cold water to cool them.
Pat dry with a clean tea towel
Stretch your bacon by running the blade of a knife along it, making it longer.
I managed to get 3 sprouts wrapped from one piece of bacon, it will depend upon the size of your sprouts.
Secure the bacon with a toothpick.
Line a roasting tray with parchment.
Wrap third of a slice of bacon around each sprout, using cocktail sticks to secure them. Place them in the tray, drizzle over the honey and sprinkle with thyme leaves.
Bake for 15 minutes, until the bacon is cooked, eat immediately.
Enjoy!
